DUTCH ("we," "our," or "us") operates the DUTCH mobile application and related services. DUTCH is a social dining platform designed to help people share meals with others in a platonic, non-dating context. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly and information we obtain automatically:
- Account information: Name, phone number, email (if provided), profile photo, bio, and dietary preferences
- Location data: City or area to match you with nearby dining partners and restaurants
- Meal preferences: Availability, cuisine preferences, and restaurant selections
- Device information: Device type, operating system, unique identifiers, and app version
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Create and maintain your account
- Match you with dining partners and facilitate meal reservations
- Provide customer support and respond to inquiries
- Improve our app and services
- Send transactional and optional promotional communications
- Ensure safety and enforce our Terms of Service
3. Sharing of Information
We may share your information with:
- Dining partners: Limited profile information (name, photo, bio) with matched users for a specific meal
- Restaurant partners: Reservation details necessary to complete a booking
- Service providers: Analytics, hosting, and support services under confidentiality agreements
- Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety
4. Children's Privacy (COPPA Compliance)
DUTCH is not a dating app. It is a social dining platform for platonic meals. Nevertheless, we take children's privacy seriously.
- Age requirement: You must be at least 18 years of age to use DUTCH. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
- If we learn that we have collected personal information from a user under 18, we will delete that information promptly.
- If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at childsafety@dutch.com so we can take appropriate action.
5. Data Retention and Security
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services and comply with legal obligations. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal information
- Export your data
- Object to or restrict certain processing
You can manage your account and privacy settings within the app. To delete your account, use the Delete Account option in Settings.
7. Third-Party Services
Our app may contain links to or integrate with third-party services (e.g., restaurants, payment processors). Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review them.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
